Nathan Sinclair is an internationally acclaimed classical guitarist and PhD researcher at the University of Melbourne, where he began his doctoral studies in 2021. His research focuses on the performance practice of Joaquín Rodrigo’s guitar compositions and 20th-century Spanish repertoire. With a multicultural background, including heritage from his mother’s native Myanmar, Nathan brings a unique cultural depth to his interpretations, enriching his connection to music across diverse styles and traditions.

In addition to his study of Spanish composers, Nathan has collaborated with composer Shaun Rigney, performing Rigney’s works and bringing a contemporary Australian voice to the guitar repertoire, reflecting his commitment to contemporary classical music.

Nathan’s distinguished career includes awards in prestigious competitions, such as the Australian International Guitar Competition (2004), Concurso Internacional Joaquín Rodrigo (2006), and the Singapore and Tokyo International Guitar Competitions. His extensive international performance experience spans collaborations with major orchestras, including the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and he has shared the stage with renowned contemporary artists like Sting. Nathan’s skill and dedication make him a compelling modern voice in classical and contemporary guitar music.
